What is Close Up Magic?

Close up Magic is a highly skilled form of entertainment also known as Table Magic or Strolling Magic. The magician demonstrates his magic under the noses of the spectators, rather than at a distance on stage. It creates an immediate audience reaction and, because of the close proximity between the magician and his audience. Close up magic invites interpersonal communication and is therefore an ideal tool at corporate events or large parties to encourage groups to mix and introduce themselves.

Where can you see magic?

Dan regularly performs his amazing close up magic at corporate events all over Ireland and the UK. From Dublin to Derry, Cork to Galway, Sligo and of course Mayo!. Although he is the only professional close up magician based in the West of Ireland, Dan is also a regular visitor to London for corporate and private party clients and to help his brother-in-law who runs one of the only Magic Shops in London and organises the only Annual Magic convention in London.

Mentalism - what's that?

Due the popularity of TV magicians such as Derren Brown and Keith Barry, many people are now aware of the term "Mentalism", or mental magic and indeed this is now a term used in the US drama "The Mentalist". This is where a magician will endeavour to read minds and is an extremely powerful and theatrical side of magic which Dan regularly likes to include in his repertoire.

Corporate Magic

As Dan has proved by creating the hugely successfull "Perfect Pint" Promotion for Guinnes Ireland, magic can be used as an educational or training tool. Performing magic allows the magician to deliver subtle messages and Dan often employs these principles when he creates tailored training programmes for Corporate Clients. Similarly, Dan is often asked to use magic at Trade Show events where visual illusions are used as a tool to attract passer by custom at exhibitions. Dan has appeared at many of the largest trade show exhibitions within the UK and Ireland.
